After drawing serious buzz with its rooftop debut in 2023, Torikabin, the legendary yakitori omakase pop-up from Jeffrey Claudio and Jessica Tan, is returning to Berlin. This time, they are hosting it inside their newly opened wood-fired restaurant, Stoke in Kreuzberg. Running for a total of three weeks, the pop-up will offer a highly focused, yet very casual dining experience built around Japanese charcoal grilling and precision drinks.
The core of Torikabin remains its Tokyo-style yakitori omakase: a multi-course tasting menu, featuring chicken skewers grilled over binchotan charcoal and served directly from the counter with the precise technique and pacing of Chef Claudio and his team.
This year’s edition adds a new dimension through a partnership with Nikka Whisky, which has inspired an expanded beverage program. A newly installed wooden wall now encloses the open kitchen, creating a more intimate, bar-like atmosphere that highlights the cocktail experience. Behind the counter, Stoke bartender Adam Tudoret has designed a four-course cocktail pairing menu that complements the smoky, umami-rich food.
Though technically a pop-up, this run of Torikabin feels more refined and complete than ever, bringing together flame, flavor, and hospitality in a tightly curated format. It’s a rare chance to experience high-level yakitori in Germany, and spots are expected to book quickly. You might not get a seat in Tokyo tonight, but you can get pretty damn close in Kreuzberg.
